Hopi Ear Candles

HISTORY.

Hopi ear candling is also known as hermo Auricular Therapy. Its name is taken from the Hopi Indians of North Arizona, USA and means ‘peaceful people.’ Ear candles are derived from a shamanistic tradition. Historical roots can be found in the steppe peoples of Siberia, in the Asian region and in the Indians of North and South America. This tradition was thought to be brought to modern Europe by the Hopi, the oldest Pueblo tribe which has vast medical knowledge and deep spirituality. Hopi Ear candles are still made today with natural ingredients following a secret original recipe

The BIOSUN Ear candles are produced from cotton and not from leaves, as was previously the case with the Hopi. The traditional Indian herbal mixture of sage, St. John's Wort and Camomile is still used to this day.

The ear candle is traditionally used to cleanse and harmonise different energy fields of the individual (Aura), to prepare the mediumistic state of trance and also expel negative energy. Whilst the candle burns, the pleasant heat sensation increases. Locally administered heat always stimulates peripheral blood circulation, thus intensifying the immunological defence system and lymph cleansing circulation. What are Biosun Ear Candles used for?

We make no claims, as there is very little if any scientific evidence, however people have found Hopi Ear Candles could helpful with: • Excessive or compacted wax in the ears and can help to clear compacted wax. Ear candles do not draw hard wax up and into the ear candle. How do Ear candles work?

The process of Hopi candling involves a specially designed hollow candle being inserted just inside the ear canal. The candle is then lit and the suction that is formed draws the impunities from within the ear. This process is known as the chimney effect. The rising air gives the ear drum a gentle massage and also helps to regulate ear pressure. A small amount of ear wax is also removed during this treatment.

Biosun ear candles work to remove ear wax or mucus in the sinuses is through the sound frequency vibration. The sound of the flame creates a vibration that travels through the ear candle penetrating the ear drum which in turn vibrates the inner ear bones at such a frequency it is like an inner ear massage. This then pushes further into the Eustachian tubes and the sinuses helping to push out any blocked pressure.

The heat from the ear candle and the vibration help to soften and break up ear wax or mucus that is blocking the head and ears, and once broken down the body finds it easier to flush the waste through the lymphatic system. This treatment is therefore detoxifying and is still working in the body up to 48 hours after treatment. There is also added benefit of the herbal essences within the ear candle transferring through the skin and into the blood stream helping to relax and calm you.

This leads to an intensive feeling of pleasant warmth and a "liberating" balancing of pressure in the ear, forehead and sinuses.

Directly after the treatment, this physical effect is often described subjectively as a feel-good, pressure and pain-soothing sensation, mainly in the area around the ear and in the head. It can also lead to a clearing of the nasal passages and to an improved sense of smell, especially where people had a blocked nose before the treatment.

In addition, the whole ceremony leads to a wonderful sense of relaxation. A deep feeling of security and happiness, which is rare to find!

The number of Hopi Ear treatments needs depends on a number of factors: • Age of the person. • Length of time had the condition. • Type of condition.

They may require more than one treatment before things improve.

There are some guidelines that can be followed with regard to the number of Hopi Ear treatments a person can have to achieve positive results. For a problem that has come on suddenly, for example a cold or blocked nose, it is safe to have treatments up to twice a day for the first 2 days and then 3 or 4 more over the next 10 days. Long term problems, such as hearing loss or tinnitus, Hopi Ear treatments can be given 3 times in the first week, twice in the second week and once in the third week. A Hopi Ear treatment once a month can be beneficial for preventing problems.

 

 

What to expect during a Hopi Ear Candling treatment

Before a treatment you will be asked to fill in a Client Questionnaire Form. You may be asked questions regarding any problems that you have with your ears. This will help to assess whether Hopi Ear Candling will be a safe treatment for you to have and to find out what your expectations of a treatment are.

You will then be placed in a comfortable position lying down on the therapy couch on your side. Once you are comfortable the Hopi Ear Candle will be placed in your ear a lit. The candle will be held firmly in place, the therapists hands cupped around the candle to hold it in place. A cardboard circular guard will be placed above the therapist’s hands to stop any ash falling onto your face or ear. You will experience a fire crackling sound as the candle burns and possibly some popping of the ear. You will also feel a gentle massaging sensation to the ear drum and some heat the candle burns lower. When the candle has burned it is carefully removed from the ear and extingu8ished. The entire process is then repeated on the other ear.

Once both ears have been treated you are left for a few moments.

A soothing sinus, facial and auricular massage may then be given, which can aid the positive benefits of the massage. Once both ears have been treated you will be left t relax for a few minutes before receiving a soothing sinus or Contra-Indications. • Perforation or lack of eardrum. • Ventilation tubes, auricular drain (paracentesis) or grommets. • Recent ear surgery within last 3 months. • Auricular cysts. • Acute mastoiditis. • Otosclerosis. • Otospongiosis (ankylosis of the stapes). • Ear tumour. • If there is inflammation or infection. • Severe eczema or dermatitis in the outer ear. • Cochlear implant. • Current or recent infection of the outer ear like ‘boils’. • Any condition of the ear that you are receiving medical treatment for by a doctor. • Under influence of drink or drugs. • In the event of an allergic reaction to the contents or candle wax.

These can be treated but with written permission off your doctor: • Pregnancy. • Recent neck or head injury. • High blood pressure. • Receiving medical treatment or have a condition that might be affected by treatment such as HIV, MS, Epilepsy or cancer.

However, most clients find the treatment relaxing and regularly describe a "slight relieved feeling" in the ears and head but also a relaxing and calming effect on the whole system.
